Blackberry syrup also makes a great homemade substitute for grenadine! (We use it to make a scrumptious Blackberry Shirley Temple!) You can use this recipe in any mocktails or cocktails calling for simple syrup or grenadine.

    How To Make This Recipe

Homemade blackberry syrup is a quick and simple recipe. Here's how it's done:

Using a muddler to mash blackberries in the pot

    1. Start by mashing fresh blackberries in the bottom of a small sauce pot.

Pouring granulated sugar and water over the blackberries on the pot
Simmering blackberry syrup in a silver pot

    2. Then, add the sugar and water. Stir to combine and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer for 5 minutes.

    3. After simmering, set the syrup aside and allow to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth.
